Here’s the plan…
Saturday, November 2nd
We will meet at the Keflavik airport (main airport in Iceland) at 10am. Co-founder of Women Who Explore, Lindsay will be there to pick you up and we will be departing to Fluoir which will be our home base for the duration of the trip.We will be stopping at a grocery store on the way, for you to stock up on any snacks you might want for the week. As well as lunch for today. We will spend the day settling into our HUGE authentic farmhouse, visiting the resident horses, soaking in the traditional hot tub and getting to know one another.
Sunday, November 3rd
Today we are heading out to the gorgeous Thingvellir National Park, the birthplace of Iceland as a nation and the place where North America and Europe split along tectonic plates. If you are lover of Jon Snow, you’ll be stoked to know that you have ventured north of “The Wall” and if you are here in winter, you can almost envision the White Walkers emerging out of the snowy horizon.
We will spend the morning discovering this beautiful park, hiking, taking phots and more. We will head back to the house this afternoon for a private horseback riding tour.
Tonight we will venture out and look for the Northern Lights. This is PRIME Northern Lights time of year.
Monday, November 4th
Today is a full day of WATERFALLS and we will set out to Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss, ending our day at the beautiful black sand beach of Reynisdrangar; where gigantic sea stack reside. Legend has it these rock formations are in fact petrified trolls. Tonight we will all cook dinner together, have a soak in the hot pool and set up cameras for Northern Lights opportunities!
Tuesday, November 5th
Road trip time! We are off to the famous Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. It’s about a 3.5hr trip to get there so we will definitely be having some carpool karaoke, snacks and laughs along the way. The Glacier Lagoon is Lindsay’s most favourite place in Iceland. Get your camera ready!
The Lagoon is full of icebergs and seals and makes for perfect photo ops. Across the road from the Lagoon is Diamond Beach, a beautiful black sand beach littered with small icebergs.
Wednesday, November 6th
It’s time to go Whale Watching! We will be departing before sunrise in order to be in Reykjavík by 9am. The tour will last anywhere from 3-5 hours and Humpback whales, Killer whales/Orcas, White-beaked dolphins and Harbour porpoises can often be spotted. The company we are going with abides by a Code of Conduct for responsible whale watching, thus each encounter is on the animal’s terms and distance may be kept to minimize disturbance.
The afternoon will be spent relaxing at the house or venturing into town on another adventure, the choice is yours.
Thursday, November 7th
It’s hiking day! We are off to see the famous DB plane wreck. In 1973 a United States Navy DC plane ran out of fuel and crashed on the black beach at Sólheimasandur, in the South Coast of Iceland. Fortunately, everyone in that plane survived. Later it turned out that the pilot had simply switched over to the wrong fuel tank. The remains are still on the sand very close to the sea. Expect a 1-2hr hike each way.
Tonight we will head out for one last time to try and catch the Northern Lights.
Friday, November 8th
Sadly today is time to return to the airport. We will be departing at 7am from the house in order to be at the Blue Lagoon for a final Iceland experience before we head to the airport. The Blue Lagoon is the perfect way to end our Iceland adventure!
We plan to be at the airport by 1pm in order for you to catch an afternoon flight.

How are Women Who Explore Events different from other events?
The number one goal is to introduce you to other kick-ass, adventurous women. It’s all about building tribes! Our second goal is to introduce you to the outdoors. It’s quite the thing to witness, putting a group of women who are passionate about the outdoors in an epic location. We know it’s a cliche thing to say… but it’s where the magic happens.
Do you arrange transport to the event?

I want to book with friends. How do I do that?

You can still join us on the getaway, the ticket price remains the same. You are not required to join in on all the activities. You do you!

Nope! We happen to love social media and sharing what are doing with others. We find it so inspiring! You can choose to be tech-free, but we encourage you to share your experiences digitally if you feel like it.
What if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
Let’s be honest, Mother Nature never cooperates. That’s why we love her. Keep an eye on the forecast and pack accordingly. We never let uncooperative weather ruin our fun!
