Zion Adventure – Winter in Bryce in partnership with Kari Traa – February 3 – 6, 2022

Women Who Explore is excited to be teaming up with our friends at Kari Traa to bring you this EPIC Winter adventure exploring Bryce with our Utah ambassador and owner of Desert Wander, Katie DeMille. During this 4 day/3 night adventure you'll enjoy snow hikes/snowshoeing, horseback riding, a sleigh ride, snowshoe yoga, great food, and so much more!!

Day 1: Welcome to Bryce!

Arrive in Tropic, Utah on the morning of Feb 3rd, 2022 by 10:00 am. Please have breakfast before you arrive.

If you are flying in to join us, the nearest airports are:
- Cedar City, Ut - 1hr 43mins drive to Tropic
- St George, UT - 2hr 40mins drive toTropic
- Las Vegas, NV - 4hr 23mins drive to Tropic
- Salt Lake, UT - 4hr 22mins drive to Tropic

After meeting up with Katie you will start your adventure with a frozen waterfall hike. Mossy Cave is a short hike to a stunning shelter cave and waterfall. This hike is about 1 mile. Next we will head to the Red Canyon area, Bryce’s next door neighbor. We'll enjoy lunch near the Red Canyon visitors center.

After lunch we will hike a short 2 mile loop connecting several trails giving us a good taste of our hoodoo filled weekend. Once we’re done we will head to the house where we will have time to settle in, rest, enjoy dinner and get to know the other ladies joining this long weekend adventure! We will end our night with some night sky viewing. All hikes will be with either snowshoes or micro-spikes depending on conditions.

Day 2: Horseback Ride in a Winter Wonderland

After a delicious breakfast, we will pack up and head out for today's adventures. We will be going on a 3 hour horseback ride through a winter wonderland. We’ll enjoy the snow covered red sandstone, hoodoos and tall pines creating spectacular views.

After our ride, we will enjoy lunch back at the house. After some rest and down time we will head to Fairyland Point to try out a newer yoga variety, Snowshoe yoga. Our class will take us from a warm up to a flow to a meditation. After our yoga we will head back to the house for dinner and snuggling in by the fire.

Day 3: Navajo Loop to Tropic hike and Sleigh Ride

We will start our day with a Bryce icon, Navajo Loop. We’ll see features such as Thor’s Hammer and Two Bridges. At this point we will connect onto the Tropic Trail and continue our hike all the way to the house. This hike is 5.2 miles. We will have lunch along the trail today. Once at the house we will have some down time to rest.

In the afternoon we will enjoy a horse drawn sleigh ride and some delicious pie. After  we will return to the house for dinner and our last night's sleep.

Day 4: Amphitheater Views for Days!

We’ll wake up and enjoy our last morning together. After breakfast, we will pack up and head out for one final adventure. We will be hiking the Rim Trail from Bryce Point to Inspiration Point taking in Bryce’s grand amphitheater. This hike is 3.5 miles.

We’ll return to Tropic for a celebratory lunch at Rustic Rustler. After lunch we will say our goodbyes (around 3:00 pm) and head our separate ways.

- 4 Days/3 nights of accommodations at a beautiful luxury home; double or triple occupancy which includes separate beds in a shared room with king, queen or twin beds. Single occupancy is available, see below for details.
- All transportation once you arrive in Tropic, UT
- Guided hiking on amazing local trails that includes specialized gear such as neoprene socks, trekking poles, micro spikes, snowshoes, and snow gaiters
- Horseback riding tour; includes guide, all gear and safety equipment
- Yoga instruction
- Sleigh ride tour
- All guides and entry fees
- All meals provided - Thursday lunch through Sunday lunch
- Hiking snacks and some desserts
- Water, coffee, tea, hot coco

Exclusions:
- Transportation to and from Tropic, UT
- Alcoholic Beverages, energy drinks, electrolyte replacements
- Travelers Insurance

Meals: All meals will be provided as noted above. Please reach out to the trip host after booking if you have any food allergies/sensitivities. We will do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions but cannot make any guarantees.

Trip Confirmation: This trip requires a minimum number of ladies to register in order for it to be confirmed. Once the trip reaches the minimum participant number, you will receive a trip confirmation email and a link to be added a private Facebook group just for trip guests. In this group further trip details will be provided. Please let us know if you do not have or use Facebook (see contact information below).

Cost: $1,395 per person for double occupancy which includes a separate bed in a shared room with either king, queen or twin bed. You must be vaccinated and show proof of vaccination to book shared occupancy. Single occupancy available as add-on; $650 for private bed and room.

Cancellation Policy: Due to the nature of this trip, payment is non-refundable at the time of purchase. If you can no longer attend, you are able to transfer your ticket to another guest. You are responsible for finding someone to transfer your ticket to and arranging the exchange of funds. Please get in touch with the Women Who Explore to discuss the transfer of your ticket. We may be able to assist if there is a wait list.

MEET YOUR TRIP LEADER - SOUTHERN UTAH AMBASSADOR - KATIE

Katie is an adventurer at heart. She has explored and wander in and around Southern Utah for the last 20 years. Canyons, wide open vistas, sandstone and sagebrush are her favorite!  She has worked in some form of recreation since she started working. Her love for backpacking took full force the year and a half she spent working for an outdoor behavioral company as a guide in 2004. Since then marriage and family has been her many focus with work on the side. She has been married for 17 years and has 4 great kids. As her kids have grown she has been able to pursue her passion to help women experience the outdoors safely and have the best time doing it. She started Desert Wander last year, yes 2020! She hopes to cultivate an amazing experience for all who come wander with her.
