Step foot on the Appalachian trail, see 360-degree views on mountain tops, watch sunsets from your mountain home balcony, bask in hot springs, taste Asheville’s best food and drinks, get up close to waterfalls, forest bathe, and experience sound healing bath in an old barn. With a little bit of relaxing and a whole lot of adventure, this weekend is the perfect mix!

Day One – Welcome to the Mountains!

Welcome to the Appalachian Mountains! Arrive at your mountain home away from home nestled at 4580 feet on top of a mountain located north of Asheville, NC.

If you're flying in, the nearest airports are:
- Asheville, NC (AVL) - 31 miles away
- Knoxville, TN (TYS) - 109 miles away
- Charlotte, NC (CLT) - 135 miles away
- Greensboro (GSO) - 185 miles away
- Atlanta, GA (ATL) - 232 miles away

Check in is at 5:00 p.m. Once you arrive, settle in, meet your roommate and check out the balcony with an epic mountain view you'll be mesmerized by during your stay. This home was intentionally built with a view of the Western NC mountains in a prime direction to catch the painted skies of the gorgeous orange, pink and blue sunsets this area is known for.

Speaking of sunsets, your host will prepare dinner for the group just in time to eat while watching the sunset over the ancient Appalachian Mountains. Make sure to save room for the best part...we'll be enjoying a s'mores bar around the campfire. Once the sun goes down, pull up a chair and enjoy swapping adventure stories and getting your fellow explorers. P.S. don't stay up too late because tomorrow we’ll be getting up early for a very special sunrise.

Day Two – Sunrise Views, Hiking and Hot Springs, NC

Wake up in the dark, a day packed with epic adventures and plenty of photo opportunities unlike anywhere else in the world awaits you!

Our day begins as we caravan to the trailhead where we will experience one of most highly rated views on the Appalachian Trail, a footpath that extends over 2,000 miles from Georgia to Maine. Here you’ll be sipping coffee while watching the sun rise over the mountain tops surrounded by the early morning sounds of the forest.

Post-sunrise we will get back in to our cars and make our way to our second adventure for the morning. This special trail will lead you to a fire tower perched on the top of a mountain. This special place provides you the opportunity to enjoy the 360-degree views from another angle. There is an option to drive to the base of the fire tower for those concerned about hiking experience.

After our hike, we'll grab lunch in the little trail town of Hot Springs. While we let our lunch settle, we'll spend some time visiting a few of the charming little shops in town. Our next adventure is a visit to the Hot Springs Resort and Spa where we'll take an hour long dip in private hot springs alongside the French Broad River.

Feeling relaxed after our well-deserved mineral soak, we’ll head back home where your host will prepare dinner for you followed by a nigh of games, laughs and fun with new friends!

Day Three – Relaxation and Asheville Explorations

Today will be a recovery day at a slow and relaxed pace. Sleep in until the smell of homemade breakfast lures you into the kitchen. Enjoy breakfast as you take in the view. This morning is yours to do whatever you want as we do not have any activities planned until the afternoon.

After morning your way, we will  make our way to a nearby mountain property for a guided Forest Bathing session in the afternoon. Once we finish with the forest bath, we will experience the gentle healing vibrations from singing bowls and other soothing sounds in a Sound Bathing session to help further calm our nervous system while relaxing in a beautiful old barn on site the property.

Once we have recharged and reached a new state of relaxation, we will return to our home where the evening is yours to do as you please. You can spend the night relaxing on the balcony or spend it exploring the city of Asheville. Soak up the free-spirit vibes of this mountain town... go on a gastronomic adventure while you sip crafted brews and taste farm to table delicacies, take a comedy bus tour around the city, try all the dessert your heart desires.... explore whatever way you want, tonight's adventure is all yours!

Day Four - Linville Falls, Mount Mitchell, and the Blue Ridge Parkway

Today will be a mix of day one and two - adventure packed but easy going. We will start the day with a leisurely breakfast freshly prepared by your host. Then we hit the highway to make our way up to Linville Falls - one of the most picturesque waterfalls in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We will take a short hike to the falls and stay as long as the group wants.

Next, we will take a scenic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway as we make our way over to Mount Mitchell, the tallest peak east of the Mississippi River, sitting at 6,684 feet. The views from this place are incredible.

We will wander back home and have one final sunset dinner together. But a special treat is in store for you after dinner - storytelling by the fire! We will invite our guest for the evening, a woman storyteller born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains. She will tell us tales and mesmerize our imaginations through stories of her growing up deep in these ancient mountains and forests that surround us.

Day Five - Good Vibes and Goodbyes

Wake up to the smell of fresh brewed coffee. We'll enjoy breakfast together before we say our good-byes and head our separate ways. Check-out is 10 a.m.

We encourage you to spend the rest of your day exploring the area with a hike, visit one of the beautiful waterfalls in the area or head out and explore more of nearby Asheville. For those who want to spend the day exploring, our trip hosts will have a few recommendations for hikes or places in the area you could check out on your way back home.

She’s spent the last decade exploring trails, towns, restaurants, shops, and unique experiences all over Western North Carolina and she wants to show you her favorite spots.

So come along on this special treat! An adventure that balances both iconic views and a few spots the locals don’t even know about. 🙂
