Day 1: Welcome to Joshua Tree!

Everyone arrives at Indian Cove Campground anytime after 3pm. Melissa will be ready and waiting with evening snacks, a campfire ready to go, and chairs prepped for some serious relaxing after traveling. This evening we get to know one another and big chill.

Day 2: A day to giveback and meet our guides!

We'll wake up and have a hearty breakfast scramble to get us going for the day! We are working with Joshua Tree National Park Services to have a volunteer morning. The details will be finalized closer to the date based on need, but it can be anything from a cleanup to trail maintenance.

We will head back to the campground to pack a lunch and get you out exploring! This afternoon is completely yours to check out all the sights. There are plenty of short hikes and scenic areas to take in.

Everyone should be back to the campsite by 5:30pm to meet our climbing guides. They will go over all the basics and get you fitted with gear if you do not have your own. This is the perfect opportunity to communicate with the guides any goals, experience or nervousness you might have.

While you're getting to know the guides, a fire will be started along with dinner. We hope you love pizza! We will be making personal pizzas in a wood-fired stove.

Day 3: It's time to climb!

Today's the day to get on the wall! We'll wake up bright and early, eat a quick breakfast and pack lunch and lots of snacks. The climbing area isn't far, but we'll definitely want all of that handy. We will be climbing from about 9am-4pm.

You'll definitely have worked up an appetite! We'll be BBQing burgers, sausages and veggies over the campfire tonight. If you have a favorite campfire dessert, definitely let us know!

Day 4: Final exploring and saying good-byes

We'll be eating breakfast and packing up as we go. Checkout from the campsite is 11am. That doesn't mean you need to leave Joshua Tree quite yet though! If you would like recommendations on sights to see, just ask. We've explored a LOT of this area!

Meet your trip leader, Women Who Explore Co-Owner, Melissa

Melissa is one of 3 owners of Women Who Explore and is ALWAYS stoked to get women outside adventuring, especially if it involves climbing! She has lived in Arizona for most of her life, much of it not too far from Joshua Tree National Park. When you come on a trip with Melissa, expect lots of content to be collected for social media, since she manages marketing for WWE.

She didn't discover how much she loved the outdoors until her early 30's and but now it shows no sign of slowing down! Hiking is her first love, and she also enjoys climbing and mountain biking. Finding WWE and connecting to like-minded women from all walks of life has been truly transformational for her. Melissa's motto is “Do all the things!” If I have the time and resources, I’ll try anything at least once!
