Rock climbing outdoors is an amazing experience! You think you want to try it? Or you’ve already been a few times, tagging along with more experienced partners, but you aren’t confident about your own skills? This beginning climbing adventure will help you develop the skills needed to start sport climbing outdoors.
We will be staying at the Alabama Hills, a formation of rounded rocks and eroded hills set between the jagged peaks of the Sierra Nevada and the geologically complex Inyo Mountains.
This will be a weekend full of adventure in this amazing area! Climbing, camping, yoga, hiking and time spent with a group of amazing women!
Day 1 - Welcome to the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas
Arrive in Lone Pine, CA and make your way to Tuttle Creek Campgrounds. This campsite offers stunning views of Mount Whitney, Lone Pine Peak, and Mount Langley. This high desert scenery will have you wanting to explore as soon as you arrive!
Snacks around the campfire will be ready for you! This will be an evening to settle in, relax, and get to know everyone.
Day 2 - Climbing!
We will wake up bright and early and head to a local climbing crag with Whitney Base Camp & Climbing School. This woman owned business has an amazing team that has climbed and travelled all over the world, but love being in the Eastern Sierra. They enjoy nothing more than to introduce a new generation of climbers and hikers to this picturesque area and teaching students how to climb safely and recreate responsibly.
This class is perfect for the beginner climber or those interested in getting to know the area. Never climbed before? Don't worry! This class has you covered. All gear is included for this day, but you are welcome to bring your own if you have it.
Snacks and lunch will be provided to help keep your energy up throughout the day!
After a day of climbing, you might want to spend the evening relaxing by the campsite OR you might feel inspired to explore the area more and head out for a short hike! The choice is yours!
Dinner over an open fire will be provided that night, but make sure to leave room for s'mores!
Day 3 - Morning yoga and restoration project
There's nothing more amazing than waking up to early morning yoga at the base of Mount Whitney! Again, no experience needed as an instructor will be guiding us through a session.
We will then grab a light breakfast, grab snacks and pack a lunch and head out to work on a restoration project in Alabama Hills in coordination with BLM (Bureau of Land Management). This land is sacred to many people and we feel it's our responsibility to give back to the land that gives so much to us.
We will have an open fire dinner followed by a glow in the dark Bocce Ball competition! There will be prizes!
Day 4 - Breakfast, free morning and goodbyes!
