As this is a multi-day adventure into an unmaintained wilderness area, please read the ENTIRE trip plan as set out below before signing up. As spaces are limited (8 spaces only) to keep in line with Leave No Trace guidelines, please cancel your ticket if you end up not being able to make it to allow another to take your place. If you could not get a ticket, please sign up for the waitlist on Eventbrite and message Ambassadors Kelsey or Jenna.
**** This is an unmaintained wilderness site, meaning there are no pit toilets, no bear caches or tent pads. A personal toilet kit including a trowel is required, it it is highly recommended to go over Leave No Trace bathroom practices before heading out on this trip. Rope and an animal proof/waterproof food bag is also required for food storage overnight. Never hung a food bag before? No problem! We will do this together! ****
On Friday the 22nd, we will make our way up the steep 4.5 km trail to the main campsite on the shores of Twin Lakes. We will arrive in time for dinner and a campfire (fire-ban permitting) before a spectacular alpine sunset puts us to sleep.
In the morning we will have a beautiful view while we enjoy our breakfast and fuel up for our day of hiking up Boulder and Lakeview mountains. After claiming these 2 peaks, we will spend the rest of the day at the lakes, swimming (snow levels permitting- bring your swimsuit and a towel though!) or relaxing and enjoying the alpine views.
We will enjoy our final night at the lakes having dinner around a campfire (fire-ban permitting), celebrating our day, and soaking in the views. In the morning we will have our final meal up at the lakes, fueling up for our 4.5 km exit to the vehicles.
The road going out to Twin Lakes past a certain point is an unmaintained Forest Service Road with small water bars, making it undrivable for small cars and vehicles with low clearance. We can carpool, but at least a few vehicles will be required to drive. If you are absolutely not comfortable or able to drive this road, please let Ambassadors Kelsey or Jenna know.
A broad timeline of our entry/exit:
Friday July 22, 2:00PM We will meet at Franks General store in Cherryville
4:00PM We will arrive at the parking lot at Twin Lakes
6:00 PM We will arrive at the campsite
Sunday, July 24, 10:00 AM We will depart the Twin Lakes campsite
12:00PM We will arrive back at the Twin Lakes parking lot
2:00 PM We will arrive back at Franks General Store in Cherryville
*** This is a broad timeline, as things sometimes don’t end up as planned, we will do our best to stick to this timeline***
