WWE PDX – Twin Lakes & Battle Ax Creek Backpack
July 17 @ 9:00 am - July 19 @ 4:30 pm
** THIS EVENT REQUIRES AN EVENTBRITE REGISTRATION AND IS INTENDED FOR LADIES WITH INTERMEDIATE – ADVANCED BACKPACKING SKILLS **
The Eventbrite tickets will go live on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 8:00 a.m.
Due to regulations in the National Forest, as well as campsite availability, this trip will be limited to a total pack size of eight (8), including the ambassador leading the event. In order to comply, we have to require each member attending this event register through Eventbrite.
In the event you successfully register, and then are unable to attend, please contact Kristina directly!
** This trip is intended for intermediate to advanced level backpackers.
• 18.3 miles round trip; 4,965 feet of elevation gain
* Rated: Moderate – Difficult
This trip is a special little loop I personally created for a group of friends last summer through a little-used portion of Mount Hood National Forest, known as Bull of the Woods Wilderness. We will make camp at East (Lower) Twin Lake the first night, and then the second night we will make camp near Battle Ax Creek.
A NW Forest Pass is required to park at the trailhead. You will need either a yearly pass, or three (3) day passes to be in compliance. (PLEASE NOTE: The road to the trailhead is rough, and requires a high-clearance vehicle.)
WHAT TO BRING:
Due to the nature of this event, a full, required packing list will be provided to the Eventbrite registrants at a later date, through a closed Facebook group set up for the event.
** PLEASE NOTE: Ambassadors are not wilderness first aid certified. This is a casual get together for shared outdoor enthusiasts. Safety is a top priority; please plan accordingly.**
Here is a link to more information and directions to our adventure, although our route is slightly modified from what is described here, it should give you a good idea of what to expect:
Questions? Please reach out to Portland Ambassador, Kristina Marx, with any questions. Can’t wait to see you all and hit the trail!
