WWE PDX – Silver Star Mountain via Sturgeon Rock
June 20 @ 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
We’re headed out on yet another stunning & ruggedly exciting adventure – this time in beautiful Skamania County, Washington.
For this adventure, we’ll be starting at the well-known Grouse Vista trailhead, and taking a little bit of a different route, first we’ll take the Tarbell Trail, through some small logging areas, and then on to an old Jeep track, which will take us close to the ridge crest, where we will scramble up to the summit of Sturgeon Rock, a perfect setting for a quick trail lunch.
Once we’ve had our fill of the views – and our snacks – we’ll head back down a user trail and continue on to the Silver Star & Summit Trail junction, then on up to our second summit of the day – reowned Silver Star Mountain. The view from the summit is unrivaled on clear, sunny days. Then we will return to the trailhead on the Grouse Vista trail.
This trail is 7.4 miles round trip, with 2,440 feet of elevation gain. There are portions where there is some exposure, and there are sections where scrambling is necessary. It is rated as moderate.
There are no reliable water sources on this trail, so please plan on carrying your entire days supply of water with you.
