WWE PDX – Full Moon Snowshoe to Enid Lake

February 9, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 10:30 pm

We’ll be headed out for a quick, but beautiful Sunday night, 2.7-mile snowshoe under the winter beauty of a full moon. Enid Lake is a small lake, nestled in the snowy forests near Government Camp.
We’ll be staring at the trailhead for Maggie’s Trail #753, taking that to the intersection with Crosstown Trail #755, then on to Enid Lake.

The gear list is a bit different for this adventure, so check below! If you don’t have snowshoes, there are several options for rentals in the area, including Mountain Shop & the Portland State Outdoor Gear Library.
Carpooling is definitely encouraged!

take I-84 east from Portland. Take exit 16 (238thDr) and turn right onto 238th Drive, and it will eventually turn into 242nd Drive in about a mile. Take a left on NE Burnside Road in 1.8 miles and continue straight onto US-26 E. Continue 37.5 miles down US-26 E and take a left onto Government Camp Loop (Ski Bowl is on your right and Mt Hood Brewing Co is on your left). Drive 0.3 miles to the trailhead (like a minute down the road). It will be on your left and right next to the Thunderhead Lodge, Grand Lodges will be on your right.
• Pack your full supply of water for the evening.
• Pack snacks & a light meal.
• Dress warm & in layers. Consider wearing a base layer & bringing an extra.
• Warm gloves & hat
• Gaiters, snowshoes & trekking poles
• Headlamp or flashlight
• Microspikes (optional)
• Waterproof top layer
• Shoes with good traction that fit in your snowshoes.
• A light backpack to put layers in as you shed them
• Oregon SnoPark pass ($5 for a daily pass, can be purchased online and printed, or at retailers like BiMart, REI, etc.) if you are worried about needing to use the overflow parking at SkiBowl West.
• Handwarmers & toe warmers (optional)
