Nootka Trail: July 10-14th, 2019
July 10, 2019 @ 9:00 am - July 14, 2019 @ 6:00 pm
Located just off the West Coast of Vancouver Island, BC, above Tofino and below Cape Scott Provincial Park, the Nookta Trail is one of the most remote and beautiful hikes available in British Columbia. This 40 km & 5 day hike requires a float plane on to the island to start the hike and a historical boat ride off.
On our float plane ride over to Starfish Lagoon we should have the opportunity to view the entirety of the hike from the float plane window before touching down and rolling up our pants to unload. From that point on we will hike from North-South along the South-West corner of Nootka Island. There is an abundance of wildlife to be seen along the trail, including the remarkable comeback story sea otters that we are almost wiped out of existence during colonial trade times, and are only now just making a comeback to BC’s coastline.
