Have you wanted to try backpacking but haven’t had a group to go with? Or, you’ve been wanting to get out on the Ice Age Trail? Join Women Who Explore from Illinois and Wisconsin for a 1 night backpacking trip on the ice age trail this Fall! This trip will be Friday October 4 – Saturday October 5th and it is geared towards beginners, but all are welcomed. We are mostly focusing on the Blackhawk Segment of the Ice Age Trail and will be camping at Shelter 3. We will be doing low mileage, a total of 8-10 miles over the two days. This section of the IAT is hilly. We will meet Friday at 2 PM at the Ice Age Trail Parking lot of Hwy 12 ( https://goo.gl/maps/XX1aK3YEp6fZ6KDk7). You must have a WI state park pass sticker (or day pass) to park at this lot. Carpooling options to trailhead might be available. This event is limited to only 8 women!
Meals: Friday and Saturday meals are the responsibility of the attendees. We will send out meal suggestions beforehand. If you need help with meal planning you can reach out and we will help you plan.
Gear: Attendees are responsible for getting their own gear. We have set up an option with @Camprents – an Ohio based gear rental company if you need to rent gear. If you’re interested in this option, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. REI will also rent gear.
